It's not real leather but you really can't tell to look at it. Has a nice heavy feel with quality hardware and straps. So far I am loving this bag and have had many compliments on it. The magnetic closure is strong but can still flop open if you are using the shoulder strap, nothing like stuff falling out open, but something to watch if you're in crowds or walking down the street. Conveniently placed and sized inner pockets and a quality lining. I only paid $35 for this bag at Marshalls so it was WELL worth what I paid for it. I like it well enough to purchase further Ivanka bags.
